Snorkeling

If the idea of seeing blue parrotfish, four-eyed butterflyfish, sergeant majors,  wrasses and many other species of fish gliding around the beautiful corals and sea fans appeals to you then a snorkel trip may be just what you are looking for. With some of the healthiest corals in the world, you will see a flourishing ecosystem below the waves.

On the more rare occasions, those who are fortunate may also spot moray eels, octopi, puddingwives and urchins thriving within the reefs. Have a look at Bermuda’s Fish to find out more about the different species of fish seen in Bermuda’s turquoise waters.

Snorkeling Excursion from the Dive Boat

Our boat, Bottom Time, heading out to our local reef.

For those interested in exploring further out, why not join us on our dive boat, Bottom Time, for a trip to one of the many shallow reefs? During the summer season the trip departs every afternoon from the dock at the Dive Bermuda Somerset.

Check-in is at 1.15pm, weather permitting, returning at 4:30pm. The boat will visit a shallow reef or wreck site suitable for our beginner divers and makes for an ideal snorkeling destination. You must be able to swim and be comfortable in open water.

We are happy to provide you with noodles to happily float around at the surface.

**PLEASE NOTE - Snorkeling in the afternoon is extremely weather dependent. We make the decision each day at 11:00am as to whether or not that day's wind and water conditions would allow for a comfortable and enjoyable experience for our snorkelers.

If you are interested in snorkeling in the afternoon, please book yourself in online via our online portal. Once you have booked in you then simply call us at +1 441 238 2332 after 11:00am the day of to confirm that the weather is OK. As space on the boat can be limited at times, you must book online first.

Some of the usual suspects you can see while snorkeling the reef here in Bermuda

Blue Parrotfish

Juvenile Blue Tang

Foureye Butterflyfish

Blue Angelfish

Hermit Crab

Yellowhead Wrasse

Four people from our family had booked the diving/snorkeling tour, and my husband and I were leery to sign on because it sounded like primarily a dive tour. There were about 12 divers and 6 snorkelers, and we had our own guide. We went to two different sites, one deeper than the the other. We saw tons of different kinds of beautiful colorful fish! Our guide was very attentive to all our questions. We had almost an hour at EACH site. I can honestly say this is the best snorkeling tour we’ve been on!
